Alfred V. Johnson, 89, of Centralia, formerly of Mt. Vernon, died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2006, at his residence in Centralia.

He was a retired delivery truck driver for Steffy Home Furnishing in Mt. Vernon.

He was born on October 11, 1916 in Mt. Vernon to James Franklin Johnson and Ima Leta (Estes) Johnson.

He married Beulah Valleroy on September 21, 1996 in Centralia and she survives in Centralia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Dr. Bruce Cromwell will preside. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County. Chaplain Ernie Collins of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct a Military Flag Presentation. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Darrell G. Johnson and wife Kay of Bluford; one sister, Dorothea Faulkner of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Berneda Lynch and husband Bob of Nason, and Glenda Johnson of Mt. Vernon; stepson, Lyndel Lynch of North Carolina; three stepdaughters, Mildred Moore and husband Hershal of California, Jane Finley of Centralia, Susan Richardson and husband Dariel of Springfield; two grandsons, Terry Lynch and wife Deanna of Woodlawn, Darrel Johnson, Jr. and Fiancee Stacy of Noble; three granddaughters, Sherry Davis of Dahlgren, Brandy Stanley and husband Skip of Springerton, and Kristi Lynch of Nason. Four great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, 10 step great-grandsons, 9 step-great- granddaughters, 5 step- granddaughters and 7 step-grandsons and several nieces and nephews survive.

His parents and one brother: Lloyd Johnson preceded him in death.

Alfred was a member of the American Legion Post #141, V.F.W. Post 1376 and attended Free Methodist Church in Centralia.

He first married Florence Lillian (Hayes) Johnson; she preceded him in death June 16, 1965.

He then married Lela Bain Lynell Johnson; she preceded him in death Sept. 16, 1990.

He then married Beulah (Valleroy) Johnson Sept. 21, 1996, in Centralia; she survives.

Funeral Services were held 1 p.m. March 6 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Dr. Bruce Cromwell presided.
