Daisy Belle Johnson

Daisy Belle, daughter of William H. and Nancy A. Johnson, was born Sept. 26, 1878, and died Nov. 15, 1899, aged 21 years, 1 month and 19 days.

She was very studious and planned to fit herself for teaching, and had received a teacher license, when she was stricken with that fatal disease, consumption. She fought bravely against the disease, and would ride out in the buggy only a few days before her death.

She was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Pleasant Grove in December, 1891 under the labors of Rev. W. D. McIntosh. She was faithful to the services of the church and walked in the ways of righteousness. She was perfectly resigned to her lot, and said to her pastor, "It is all right; I am willing to go or stay, just as God wills." And to her friends, in the hour of death, she said, "I am so happy, I will soon be with Jesus," and then calmly told all present good-by, and with the last audible word was praising God. Her death was one of great victory.

The funeral services were conducted at Hopewell Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 o'clock, by her pastor, the writer, and a great congregation of weeping relatives and friends followed her to the cemetery, where she was laid to rest.
