Florence Johnston Dies at Home Here: Rites Wednesday Mrs. Florence Johnston died at 1:30 p. m. Monday at her home, 1029 South 20th Street, at the age of 71 years, one month and ten days. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Bird Green officiating, and burial will be in Knowles Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time until the funeral hour. Mrs. JOHNSTON was born December 11, 1881 in Spring Garden township, Jefferson county, the daughter of Silas and Jane (SHELTON) WILLIAMS. On November 28. 1897 she was married to James S. JOHNSTON, who preceded her in death November 13, 1915. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Audrey GORDON of Mt. Vernon; five sons, Evan Lee, Russell and Warner of Mt. Vernon, Gerald of Centralia and Nelson of Salem; three brothers, Otis WILLIAMS of Wentzville, Mo. and Marion and Weaver WILLIAMS of Bonnie; a sister, Mrs. Eva ELDRIDGE of Mt. Vernon; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, a brother, a sister and a half-brother.
