John A. Johnston
John A. JOHNSTON, in his active life, one of the best known men in the south part of Jefferson County, died last night at the "Soldiers' Home" in Danville. Death was due principally to the infirmities of age. Mr. JOHNSTON was about 80 years old. The body will arrive at Cub tonight at 7 o'clock and burial will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at Cub Cemetery. Mr. JOHNSTON was a veteran of the Civil War, and had spent the last year at the Soldiers' Home at Danville. In his day he was a prominent business man and farmer of Dodds Township and accumulated much personal and real property. Mr. JOHNSTON's wife died years ago, but he is survived by the following named children: Mrs. Lillian ATWOOD, of Cub; Virgil JOHNSTON of Texas; Ollie, a son, in Virginia; Mrs. Ed KELLEY, Danville; Mrs. Belle BARROW, Bonnie. One brother, Ambrose JOHNSTON survives, and lives at Bonnie. Mt. Vernon, IL Register News - April 22, 1922 - Bonnie Column John A. JOHNSTON died at the Soldier's home in Danville, on Thursday night. Mr. JOHNSTON was a life long resident of Jefferson County and until a few years ago was active in business circles. He was a large land owner and engaged in threshing and running a saw mill and grist mill in Bonnie. Mr. JOHNSON was a member of the M. E. Church. He is survived by 3 sons and 3 daughters, and one brother W. A. JOHNSTON of this place.
