WELL KNOWN CITIZEN SUCCUMBS TO APOPLEXY

Wm. JUSTICE Stricken While at Evening Meal - Never Regained Consciousness - Born in Ohio

Wm. Justice, was stricken with apoplexy while at his evening meal Wednesday and never regained consciousness. He passed away on to the other world at 4 o'clock Thursday morning.

He was born in Beverly, Ohio, July 2, 1847. On February 14, 1884, Mr. Justice came to this city from Oakland City, Ind., to reside, and on account of landing here on St. Valentine's day always referred to himself as Mt. Vernon's valentine. Shortly after locating here he became associated with Elisha Rogers in the shoe making business, and had been associated with him most of the time since then.

He had suffered several previous strokes of apoplexy, but none of them were very severe.

In the Civil War he served under General Grosvenor, in the 18th Ohio for three years, enlisting as a private and when mustered out had earned the distinction of being quartermaster sargeant. He was a member of Coleman Post, G.A.R., and one of the most active members, serving for seven years as quartermaster.

The funeral will be conducted at the Second Baptist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. C. Bersche, under the auspices of the G.A.R. Interment at Oakwood.
