Claude Earl Kirk
Claude Earl KIRK, 75, of 1502 N. 11th Street, was dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, following an apparent heart attack while fighting a grass fire at his home. He was a retired grocery store operator. Funeral Services will be held at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett LEMAY officiating. Burial will be in Kirk Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, where friends may call between the hours of 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. today. Mr. KIRK was born February 12, 1895, in Bonnie, the son of James M. and Fannie (BENNETT) KIRK. On December 1, 1965, in Nashville, Ill., he was married to Gussie WARREN who survives. He is also survived by one aunt, Mrs. LaVera HOLTSLAW of Salem. He was preceded in death by two sons. Mt. KIRK was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 28, 1917 and received his discharge April 28, 1919. He was a member of the American Legion Post 141, VFW Post, Mt. Vernon Moore Lodge and Mt. Vernon Masonic 31 A.F. & A.M.
