Earl Kirk Dies Earl S. Kirk, 45, died at 7:07 p.m. Sunday at an Alton Hospital, Following a few days of illness of influenza.He had been in failing health the past 10 months, but recently had been much improved. He was born 1/17/1894 at Mount Vernon, a son of James and Martha Kirk. In 1916 he came to East Alton, where he accepted employment at Westen Cartridge Co., where he continued to work until he became ill. In 1918 he was married to Miss Ruth Wright of Wellsville, Mo., the marriage occurring in East Alton. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Kirk, and a son, Earl, who lives at the family home, 519 Bowman avenue, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Leonard of Benton, Ill. Mrs. Leonard has been at her brother's bedside the last few days. Funeral services have been announced for 2 p. m., Wednesday at the Methodist church with the Rev. William F. Bohn of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery at Alton.
