Mary Louvenia (Vance) Johnson Kite
Mrs. Mary Kite, wife of William Kite, died this morning at 9:30 after many years of ill health. She was long a sufferer from cancer, and for some time had been a victim of tuberculosis. Mrs. Kite was 54 years of age. She is survived by her husband, William Kite, and three children, Fred Johnson of Johnson City, and Mrs. Maude Woods, living north of Mt. Vernon; children of a former marriage and Louis Kite. Funeral services will be held at the family home at 10 o'clock tomorrow and burial will follow at Williams Cemetery, east of Mt. Vernon.
Source: The Daily Register - Mt. Vernon, IL Louvenia Kite was born in Jefferson County, Illinois April 26, 1853 and died in Mt. Vernon, IL, March 6, 1919, age 65 years, 10 months and 20 days. Her entire life was spent in Jefferson County. She was married to W. M. Johnson in 1880. To this union were born five children, two dying in infancy, three living, W. M. Johnson of Spring Garden, Fred Johnson, of Mt. Vernon, Maud Wood of Mt. Vernon; and four step children, Rebecca Sursa, Bluford, IL, Frank Kite, Mt. Vernon, Kate Spencer and Net Ramcy, Oklahoma City. She was married to W. M. Kite April 15, 1892 and to this union was born two children, Louis Venton Kite and Minnie who died in infancy. She was a loving wife and devoted mother and was kind to her stepchildren and loved by all who knew her. She leaves a husband, four children, four stepchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. The funeral was held at the house at 9:15(?) a.m. and she was laid to rest in Williams Cemetery. Gone but not forgotten... A Friend.
