Delia Koons, Ex-Mayor's Widow Dies at Age 90

Mrs. Delia Jane Koons, widow of former Mt. Vernon Mayor John A. Koons, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the family home, 222 North 8th Street. She was 90 years, seven months, and 26 days old.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today.

Mrs. Koons was born January 9, 1873, in West Virginia, the daughter of John and Nancy Williams.

On February 9, 1911, at Jonesboro, Arkansas, she was married to John A. Koons, who proceeded her in death on June 15, 1948.

She is survived by one son, John A. Koons of this city; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Koons was a past president of the Mt. Vernon Federated Woman's Club. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and Mt. Vernon Garden Club and the Royal Neighbors of America Lodge.

Mrs. Koons was a member of the First Methodist church.
