Death of Mrs. John Koons - Died August 2, 1908. She succumbs to paralysis at home in Arkansas. Body expected to arrive here on the C.& E. I. This evening for Interment in Oakwood Cemetery at 2:30 Tomorrow Afternoon.

J.B. Koons of this city was called up by long distance telephone at 1 o'clock this morning by his brother John and informed that the latter's wife, Mrs. Eldorado Koons, age 45, died at 12 o'clock in the midnight at her home in Jonesboro, Arkansas, of paralysis. The grief stricken husband said he would arrive with the body on the C.&E. I. this evening and instructed his brother to arrange for the funeral to be conducted at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon, interment to be made in Oakwood cemetery.

The husband, John A. Koons, two sisters, Mrs. John Tippie of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Robert Hughes of Oregon, and three brothers, Henry and Ezra Robinson of Arkansas and Met Robinson of Franklin county, Illinois, an uncle, Dr. S.M. Robinson of Mt. Vernon and Miss Bernie Robinson, an adopted daughter whom Mrs. Koons has partially reared, are the surviving immediate relatives.

Mrs. Koons accompanied her husband to Jonesboro, Ark., last Spring when he decided to embark in business there. Two weeks ago, relatives in this city were notified that Mrs. Koons had just had a stroke of paralysis which was followed by the second stroke a week later, a third stroke last night proving fatal.

Death of Mrs. Koons Due to Paralysis Came Monday Night at Jonesboro, Arkansas - Body to Be Brought Here

Robert Koons received a telephone message from his brother, John, at Jonesboro, Arkansas at one o'clock Tuesday morning stating that Mrs. Koons died Monday night , and that her death was due to paralysis.

Mrs. Koons was stricken three weeks ago and since that time has experienced three strokes. Her health had not been good for some time, but her ailment was never thought to be approaching paralysis. The family moved to Jonesboro about three months ago, where Mr. Koons had purchased a large tract of timber and was just making preparations to clear the land.

Mr. and Mrs. Koons had been married about twenty years, and one child was born to them, a bright little son who died about twelve years ago.

Mrs. Koons' maiden name was Robinson and her early home was in Franklin county.

The funeral arrangements are not known, other than the body will be brought here for burial in Oakwood cemetery.

Southern Friends Mourn

Tuesday's Time-Enterprise, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, has the following to say in regard to the death of Mrs. John A. Koons, who left here for Jonesboro about 4 months ago.

Last night at 8:10 o'clock, Mrs Eldorado Koons, wife of John A. Koons, died at their home on South Main street after an illness of about three weeks, her death being due to a complication of diseases. The immediate cause being due to heart failure.

In the death of Mrs. Koons, her husband and other relatives who were with her when the end came, have the sympathy of a large number of friends.

Mrs. Koons who was 44 years of age, was born in Illinois. She came to Jonesboro about three or four months ago, and during her short residence she has by her kind and lady like manner and gentle disposition made many warm and sincere friends, who are greatly grieved over her seemingly untimely death.

For the first few weeks of her illness, Mrs. Koons had hopes of recovery and was in anticipation of soon being well, but for the past week she realized that she could not ever be well and became submissive and was ready and willing to go, her only regret that she hated to leave her husband and other loved ones.

Mrs. Koons is survived by her husband and several brothers and sisters, who may reside in Illinois, one sister, Mrs. John Tippe, being called here ten days on account of the illness of the good lady.

Everything possible in the way of medical attention and the tender care and nursing of friends, was done to relieve the sufferings, but God had use for her, and called her home.

The remains were prepared for burial and shipped to the old home at Mt. Vernon, Illinois this morning for interment.

The Times-Enterprise together with a large number of friends, deeply sympathize with Mr. Koons in this sad affliction.
