Robert A. Koons Funeral Today

Funeral services for Robert A. Koons, 77, were held at 3:30 p.m. today at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Cyrus Maulding officiated and burial followed in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Koons, brother of the late former Mayor John A. Koons, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leota Moss, 214 North 12th Street, Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Koons served as a police officer here under two mayors, was superintendent of the city park and was street commissioner during the term of his brother as mayor.

He was born November 15, 1872 in Piedmont, Missouri, the son of N. W. and Anna (Bates) Koons.

He was married to Della Pearson who preceded him in death in 1934.

Mr. Koons was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leota Moss of Mt. Vernon, a grandson, two great-granddaughters, and a brother, Joe Koons of Florida.
