Former Mount Vernon Man Dies in West S.A. Koons, who left here ten years ago, dies in Corona, California, after operation for goitre. S.A. Koons died yesterday afternoon in Corona, California, in a hospital following an operation for the removal of goitre. Mr. Koons was a brother of John A. and Robert Koons and a brother-in-law of Mrs. John Metcalf of this city. He formerly lived in Mt. Vernon, leaving ten years ago to make his home in Southern California. For the past ten years he had been a rancher. Some two years ago he began to suffer from goitre, which gradually grew worse and a year ago forced him to quit active work. He was well known in Mt. Vernon, having lived here for almost twn years. At one time he operated a factory for the manufacture of ironing boards. His factory, which was located between Pace and Isabella Avenue on the Centralia road, burned down, and with his wife he left Mt. Vernon shortly afterwards. Mr. Koons was the son of the late N.W. Koons, of this city. He was born in Piedmont, Mo. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel Koons, and three brothers, John A. and Robert of Mt. Vernon and one brother, Joseph, who lives in New York. No funeral arrangements have been made. Note:
