Alsa Burt Laird, 80, a retired farmer of Ashley, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Mr. Laird had been a resident of Hickory Grove Manor nursing home preceding his death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fry Funeral Chapel at Waltonville, with the Rev. Merritt Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Minson cemetery at Ashley. The body will lie in state at Fry Funeral Chapel after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Laird was born Nov. 4, 1892 in Illinois, the son of William W. and Martha (Pierce) Laird.

He was married to Minnie Lemmon, who died in 1950.

Mr. Laird was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Ashley.

He is survived by one brother, John P. of Minneapolis, Minn., six grand children and five great grand children.

Mr. Laird was preceded in death by his wife, and two sons Charles and Art.
