Jesse Davenport Laird
Jesse D. Laird Diest At Age 70; Rites Tomorrow Jesse D. Laird, of 1216 south 27th street, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan hospital. He was 70 years four months and six days of age. Mr. Larid was born Nov. 29, 1887 in Belle Rive, the son of Samuel T. and Nellie (Davenport) Laird. On February 25, 1913, he was married to Mabel Schelhase, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Jack E. Laird of this city; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Clifton of Opdyke, Mrs. Glady Baker of Belle Rive and Mrs. Bonnie Nell Smith of this city; four brothers, Clarence Laird of Huron, S.D., Charles and Raymond Laird of Fulton, S.D., and Wilbur Laird of this city. He is also survived by two grandsons. Mr. Laird was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ. He was a member of the International Brotherhood Electrical Workers, and a retired power construction electrician. The body has been taken to Myers Chapel, where friends may call at any time. Funeral services will be conducted there at 1 p.m. tomorrow with Rev. Bird Green officiating. Burial will be in Old Shiloh cemetery.
