Ernest L. Langa
Ernest L. Langa, 85, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 in Randolph County Care Center in Sparta. Services were at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Sparta. Burial was in Caledonia Cemetery. Mr. Langa was retired from the Illinois Department of Mental Health in Chester, where he was a security therapy aid. He also worked at the Mt. Vernon Furnace Manufacturing Company. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II in the South Pacific. He was born January 20, 1918 in Woodlawn to Frank W. and Josephine (Smolek) Langa. He married Marie M. Krisby on February 11, 1941 in Mt. Vernon. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Janet Epplin of Pinckneyville; one son, James Langa of Bluford; six grandchildren, Ed Dehn, Pat Langa, Jay Langa, Melisa Dycus, Doug Epplin and Allison Epplin and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jim Dehn; two sisters, Rose Setzekorn and Cecelia Zamenski and two brothers, Frank R. Langa and Joe A. Langa.
