Roy Leibengood
Roy Leibengood, 86, of 404 Leibengood, died at 1:05 P.M. Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Leibengood will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Robert Freytag will officiate and burial will be in Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 5:00 PM. Tuesday. Mr. Leibengood was born May 14,1894, in Jefferson County, Illinois, the son of Jacob and Margaret (Atkinson) Leibengood. On September 21, 1909 he was married to Bessie Bates in Mt. Vernon. She survives. Mr. Leibengood was a fireman on the St. Louis Terminal Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers Union 21 of St. Louis. Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Rodney Leibengood of St. Louis; a daughter, Ethel Schneider of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Harry Leibengood of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a sister, Mrs. Otto Hertenstein of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by a step-brother, Roy Weingartner of Mt. Vernon.
