LIPE, Robert - Of Grand Blanc, age 77, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Fenton Extended Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 7PM Friday, March 8, 2002 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. Larry Williams officiating. Burial in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Those desiring may make contributions to Valley Christian Academy or the Alzheimer's Association. Visitation 5-9PM Thursday and 1-4PM and 6PM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Robert was born in Hamilton County, Illinois on December 28, 1924 and was the son of Orville and Harriet Lipe.

He married Myrtle Mae Shelton on May 25, 1946.

He was a member of Bristol Road Church of Christ. For years, he enjoyed his hobby of photography. Robert was employed by General Motors at the Grand Blanc Tank Plant, as a tool & die maker, retiring in 1997, after 43 years.

Surviving are wife of 55 years, Mae; daughter, Connie and husband Jim Batey of Cheboygan, Michigan; grandchildren, Jimmie and wife Angie Batey and their children, Chelsea and Jimmie ILL, Jennifer and husband Paul Lyewski and their daughter, Bailee, Derek and wife Marsha Batey and two their children, Kaylen and Troy and Michael Batey; sister, Betty Lee of West Hills, California.

Robert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
