Pearl (Russell) Loker
Pearl Loker, 95, of Mt. Vernon, died at 6:37 a.m. Dec. 29, 1999, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Loker was formerly employed at the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory as a shoe lining cutter. She was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Farrington Township, Jefferson County, to Albert and Hassie McConnaughhay Russell. She married Eugene Loker on July 15, 1926, in Mt. Vernon; he died April 18, 1979. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Wells Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Tate officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Survivors include one daughter, Freda Every and husband Duane of Mt. Vernon; one grandson, David Every of Mt. Vernon; seven stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Loker attended the Wells Chapel Church in her youth, then in later years she attended the Marlow General Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; one stepson, George Loker; two brothers, James and Jess Russell; and three sisters, Mary Knight, Bernice Punches and Ruby Michael.
