John Washington Loman
John Washington LOMAN was born January 23, 1878 in Jefferson County, IL, about four miles East of Waltonville and died August 30, 1920 at 6 o'clock a.m. at a private hospital in Benton, Illinois. Aged 42y7m7d, following an operation for mastoid abscess, which was the result of an attack of influenza of last January. He was the youngest child of Elias and Sarah LOMAN and had spent the greater part of his life in the community where he was born. He was married September 8, 1897 to Miss Eliza E. HICKS and to this union was born one son Earnest B. LOMAN. The deceased is survived by his devoted wife, the only son, one little grandson Everett Verne LOMAN, one sister Mrs. Ida BODINE of Decatur, Ill. and a host of relatives and friends to mourn the loss. Deceased had spent the most of his life on or near the old homestead and was well known by the whole community. Early in the fall of 1919 he moved to Benton, Illinois and was employed by the Benton Hardward Company of that place and was held in high esteen by his employers and business associates, who join with the relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Hickory Hill Church in McClellan Township conducted by Rev. W. J. LESLIE of Waltonville assisted by Rev. J. J. SANDERS of Benton. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church.
