Ruth (Gulley) Loman
Ruth Loman, 83, of Mt. Vernon and a former resident of rural Opdyke, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Mt. Vernon Health Care. Private family graveside interment services will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser with Mr. Randy Sells Officiating. For those wishing, memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon Health Care and will be accepted at the funeral home at any time. The Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon is in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 1, 1924, in Valier, the daughter of George and Edna (Lewis) Gulley. On Feb. 1, 1945, in Blissville Twp., she married Harold Loman. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1988. Ruth was of the Baptist faith and devoted her life to being a mother and grandmother. Ruth is survived by five children, Diane and husband Don Montgomery of Sesser, Jerry and Michael Loman, both of Opdyke, Marsha and husband Alan Williford, and Nancy and husband Doug Linn, both of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Betty and husband Harrison Loman of Elkville, and Earlene Burlison of West Frankfort; two brothers, Kenneth Gulley of Valier, and Nolan Gulley and wife, Marva, of Benton; four grandchildren, Mark Montgomery, Russell Montgomery and wife, Denise, Randy Montgomery and wife, Shannon, and Amanda and husband Jarod Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Derrick, Morgan and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Ralph, Paul and Guy Gulley; and two sisters, Velma Loman and Hattie McCormick.
