Amy Marie Long, 48, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 6:42 am October 20, 2023 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

She was born March 6, 1975 in Decatur, Illinois to Dale Greene and Mary (Hilabrand) Greene.

Amy is survived by her man friend, Greg Weltmer of Mount Vernon, Illinois; father, Dale Greene of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sons, Alec Long and McKenzie Payne of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Andrew Long of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Tony Greene and wife, J'ne of Fairfield, Illinois; nephew, A.J. Greene and wife, Emily of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and niece, Aliana Greene of Fairfield, Illinois.

Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Janice Greene.

Ms. Long proudly served her country in the United States National Guard for twelve years. Amy worked as a registered nurse at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in OB where many babies left with some of her crocheted hats or blankets. She enjoyed working with her coworkers. Amy was an avid open wheel dirt racing fan. She was of the catholic faith and loved her family dearly. Amy will be dearly missed.

The Long family would like to thank SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital for their love and care to Amy during her battle with cancer.

A Visitation will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

The family has requested that everyone wears casual attire. Memorials may be made in Amy's honor to the American Cancer Society.
