Virginia N. (Hayes) Lowery, 81, of Texico died 1 p.m. July 17, 2005, at her home. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Lowery was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Jefferson County to Cecil Johnnie and Cecile Dana (Keaton) Hayes.

She married Charles William Lowery Sr. May 3, 1947, in Mt. Vernon; he preceded her in death April 21, 1973.

In honor of her wishes, no public services will be held.

Mrs. Lowery is survived by a daughter, Francine Shehorn and husband Butch of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Gale Lowery and special friend Theresa Shelton of Mt. Vernon and Charles William Lowery Jr. and wife Brenda of Texico; five grandchildren, Jasen Shehorn and special friend Amber Oliver of Mt. Vernon, Hemi Nicole Lowery of Texico and Darion, Colton and Joshua of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Tammie Sue Lowery and Gayla Jean Lowery; a brother, Robert Hayes; and a sister, Yvonne Jones.

Mrs. Lowery was of the Baptist faith.
