Donald G. Martin, 76, of Woodlawn, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon. Donald was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Jefferson County to Clinton and Velma (Farmer) Martin. He married Patsy Ann Moore in Woodlawn on Nov. 17, 1956. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War who served from 1948 to 1956. He was a selfemployed carpenter specializing in homebuilding and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; a son, Garret Martin and wife Kathy of Woodlawn; two daughters, Donella Mullinax and husband Bart of Woodlawn and Kara Ferguson and hussand Les of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons, Garret Ryan Richardson and wife Kassi of New Market, England, James Matthew Mullinax of Lexington Ky. and Levi Aaron Ferguson of Mt. Vernon; three granddaughters, Shanda Ralyn Martin of Woodlawn, Brecca Rae Mullinax of Lexington, Ky. and Shawna Marie Ferguson of Mt. Vernon; and one great granddaughter, Morgan Leigh Richardson of New Market, England; one brother, Harold Martin and wife Carol of Tuscola; and two sisters, Evelyn Burton of Tuscon, Ariz., and Shirley Smith and husband Richard of Tacoma, Wash. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Edith Sturdevant, and an infant brother, Paul. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Mount Catherine emetery in Woodlawn with Reverend Les Bolt officiating. There will be no public visitation.
