Funeral services for John MATHUS who died at his residence in Dodds Twp. at 6 o'clock Sunday morning, were held at the Myers Chapel at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. Marsh HARPOOLE was in charge. Burial was made in South Hickory Hill Cemetery.

Mr. MATHUS was born in Tennessee on October 22, 1856, his age at the time of death being 78 years, 5 months, and 29 days.

He was a member of the Cub Grove Baptist Church and had lived in Dodds Twp., 10 years.

The widow, the former Nora McBRIDE, and six sons and four daughters survive.

The sons are Henry of Centralia, Emery, Arthur, John, Evan and Tom of Mt. Vernon.

The daughters are Mrs. Ethel NEWELL of Jonesboro, Ark., Mrs. Mary McADOO of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Opal PITTMAN of Scheller and Pauline MATHUS at home.

Jennings REYNOLDS and Mrs. Luther HODGE, both of Nason, are half brother and half sister, respectively.
