SALEM-Anna Mae Maxey, 90, of Salem and formerly of Mt. Vernon and Bluford died at 10:13 am Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Doctors Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salem.

She was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Homer, daughter of Charles and Annie L. (Deatley) Evans.

She married Chancey Maxey on Nov. 13, 1929, in Jefferson County, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1976.

Mrs. Maxey is survived by three sons, Clyde A. Maxey and wife Helen of Salem, Conrad E. “Connie” Maxey and wife Sharon of Mt. Vernon and Loren Denver Maxey and wife Wanda of New Caney, Texas; a daughter, Donna Kaye Diding and husband Bill of Joliet, nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Maxey was a homemaker and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and five brothers.

Services will be held at 10 am Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Price officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
