Geraldine "Jerry" (Chambliss) Maxey
BLUFORD-Geraldine “Jerry” Maxey, 69, of Bluford died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, July 19, 1999, at St.Mary’s/Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born March 25, 1930, in Bluford, daughter of Charles Samuel and Bertha Florence (King) Chambliss. She maried Donald E. Maxey on Aug. 21, 1949, in Bluford and he survives there. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Maxey is survived by three sons, Donald R Maxey of Bluford, Charles D. Maxey of Belle Rive and Leonard E. Maxey of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Reva Donnelle McKee and Aleta Starr Payne, both of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Leuty Chambliss of Bluford and Charles Chambliss Jr. of Wayne City; two sisters, Reva Howard of Bethany Okla, and Cora Maxine Henry of Bluford, 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Maxey was a food service supervisor at Gateway Terrace Care Facility. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Services will held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harmony Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
