Harold Gene McIntyre
Harold Gene McIntyre, 73, of Mt. Vernon died 5:53 p.m. Sept. 11, 2004, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was a truck driver for the Estel Barnard Trucking Company in Wayne City. Mr. McIntyre was born June 30, 1931, in Benton to Fred and Florence (Scratchfield) McIntyre. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smith-Veterans Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Gilbert Daniels will officiate. A military flag presentation will be conducted by the chaplain of the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Those attending the graveside services are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Tuesday. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. McIntyre is survived by a son, Harold Ray McIntyre of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Missy Tate of Clarksville, Tenn.; a stepson, Steve Tate and wife Laura of Mt. Vernon; a granddaughter, Staci White of Mt. Vernon; sisters Doris Morlan of Mt. Vernon and Norma Reininger of Mt. Vernon; a son-in-law, Billy White and wife Laura of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy White; and sisters Ruth Marcum and Wanda Piercy. Mr. McIntyre was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a very good guitar player and enjoyed playing guitar with his friends.
