Theodore "Ted" A. Melton
Theodore "Ted" A. MELTON, 63, of Route 4, died at 10:31 p.m. yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was a retired employee of the State of Illinois. He was employed by the state for 29 years. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Hughey-Pulley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Morris PAXTON officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Born in Jefferson County on October 8, 1910, he was the son of Arthur and Christina (THRELKELD) MELTON. He married Ethel LOSS, who survives. Mr. MELTON was a member of Jefferson Masonic Lodge No. 368 in Opdyke. Besides his wife Ethel, survivors include three sons, Donald, Gary, and Russell, all of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Donna ADAMS, Mt. Vernon; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois MARTIN, Opdyke, and Mrs. Irene COCHRANE, Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret, a grandson, and a granddaughter.
