Timmothy Otto "Tim" Metje, 61, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:13 am April 26, 2024 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born December 1, 1962 in Mount Vernon to the late Roger and Jeanette (Anderson) Metje.

Tim is survived by his son, Quentin Metje of Opdyke, Illinois; brother, Roger Alan Metje and wife, Deanna of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Kristen Rollie and husband, Lucas of Woodlawn, Jarred Metje and wife, Alex of Mount Vernon, and Michaela Taylor and husband, Richard of Saint Louis, Missouri; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Bowen Rollie and Baylor Rollie, both of Woodlawn, and Avery Metje and Stevie Metje, both of Mount Vernon; uncle, Jim Anderson and wife Wilma of Mount Vernon, Illinois; aunt, Linda Allison of Nason, Illinois; and several cousins also survive.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Burwell.

Tim loved to fish. He also enjoyed building street cars and hot rods. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 pm. Memorials may be made in Tim's honor to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation or The Elk's Children's Care.
