Alonzo Moore Of Route 1, Dix Dies At Age 78

Alonzo Moore died suddenly at 3 p.m. yesterday at his home on RFD 1, Dix. He was 78 years, one month, and one day old.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Pulley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Jordan Chapel cemetery, northeast of Dix. The body will lie in state at the Pulley Funeral Home where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Moore was born Jan. 2, 1882, in Jefferson county, the son of Tell and Lena (Garrett) Moore.

Survivors include a son, Virgil Moore, of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Violet Mays, of Boyd; a brother, Lester Moore of Napa, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Iva McMeen of Iuka and Mrs. Lelia Gibson of Vandalia; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers, three sisters.
