Moody R. Moss, Retired Grocer, Dies Here Today Moody R. Moss, well known retired Mt. Vernon grocer, died at 6:30 this morning at his home, 116 N. 13th Street. Mr. Moss was 66 years, 5 months, 23 days of age.For many years he operated a grocery store and meat market in downtown Mt. Vernon. Later he owned and operated a grocery store west of the city for years before his retirement. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel. The Rev. Lester E. Pifer, minister of the Central Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where his many friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Moss was born December 6th, 1887 in Hazelton, Indiana, the son of Walter Douglas and Mary Ellen (Coleman) Moss. He was married to Flossie Firebaugh who survives. Mr. Moss was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister, Mrs. G. O. Culli of San Antonio, Texas and three brothers, Mark H. of San Antonio, Texas and Ed B. and Tony of Mt. Vernon.
