Frances Sue (Harlow) Mullinax

Frances Sue Mullinax, 67, of Mt. Vernon,Illinois died Saturday, November 11, 2006, 9:55 A.M. at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born on September 26, 1939 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois a daughter to Frank A. Harlow & Grace Mildred (Lane) Harlow.

She married Don Mullinax on February 12,1957 in Corinth, Mississippi and he survives.

She was a House Parent at Angel's Cove in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30PM Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Mike Davis will officiate. Visitaion will be from 5 to 8:00PM Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Survivors include: Husband: Don Mullinax of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 2 Sons: Dick Mullinax and wife Dee of Southlake, Texas and Bart Mullinax and wife Donella of Woodlawn, Illinois; 2 Daughters: Terrea Kirsch and husband Ron of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Rannetta Fitzjerrells and husband James of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Special Niece: Annetta Anderson and husband Fred of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 13 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter also survive.

Her parents, sister: Mildred Brookman and one brother-in-law: Marshall Brookman preceded her in death.

Mrs Mullinax was one of the founders of Casey Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church where she taught the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She and her husband Don were recently named Jefferson County Senior Saints in September 2006 in recognition of decades of service to youth and serving as foster parents for more than 60 children. In 1991, Don and Frances resigned their jobs to achieve a lifetime dream of working together at a children's home in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1993, they returned to Southern Illinois where they served as house parents for more than 10 years at Baptist Children's Home in Carmi and Angel's Cove in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Frances dearly loved and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Logan Street Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
