Richard G. Murphy, 75, of Mt. Vernon, died at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was a bookkeeper for Wielt Plumbing and was an antique dealer for several years.

Mr. Murphy was born April 30, 1930, in Mt. Vernon to Recil G. and Archie M. (Green) Murphy.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Mike Steed will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Murphy is survived by a niece; Lisa Ann Curtis of Mt. Vernon, a nephew; Michael A. Wilkerson and wife Toni of Sutters Creek, Calif.; two great-nephews; and three cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Ann Curtis.

Mr. Murphy was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and a member of the church choir.
