Terry B. Murphy
Terry B. Murphy, 54, of Mt. Vernon, died 9 a.m. May 30, 2005, at his residence in Mt. Vernon. He was born Dec. 15, 1950, in Mt. Vernon to Herbert A. and Bessie M. (Phillips) Murphy. On Dec. 20, 1982, he married Tammy Ellis in Mt. Vernon. He retired due to health concerns in August 2004 from owning and operating Murphy's Painting Service in Mt. Vernon. Services are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ten Post Oak Cemetery in Wayne County. The Rev. Elvin Ervin will officiate. Burial will be at Ten Post Oak Cemetery in Wayne County, with full military rites conducted by members of the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Visitation is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Murphy of Mt. Vernon; son U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. John A. Murphy and wife Alyson of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Jamie D. Chambliss and husband Mike of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter Cheyenne Chambliss of Mt. Vernon; brother Ralph Murphy and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon; sister Carolyn J. Lemons and husband James of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews survive, including special nephew Bill Fletcher of Opdyke. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Elmer Lee Price. Mr. Murphy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. For those who wish, memorials may be given to aid the American troops fighting in Iraq and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to the Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt.
