Mary Jane (French) Byars Myers
Mary Jane (Byars) Myers RFD 7, Mt. Vernon, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday at her home. She was 70 years, 11 months and 17 days of age. Mrs. Myers was born August 21, 1888 at Bluford, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Knauss) French. She was a member of the Oakdale E.U.B. church. She was first married to Ben Byars in 1909, who died in 1940. In 1948 she married John T. Myers, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charley and Wilroy of Mt. Vernon; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Molenhour of Decatur, Mrs. Doris Pierce of Bluford, and Mrs. Ruth Wilson of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Charles and Curtis French of Bluford; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Simmons of Texico and Mrs. Hester Knox of Centralia; one stepson, Lester Myers of Mt. Vernon; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Lena Polland of Carmi; 21 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. One son, two brothers and two sisters are dead. Funeral services will be held at the Oakdale E.U.B. church Tuesday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Jesse Miller of Wayne City and the Rev. Earl Michel of Bluford. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be removed from the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix to the family residence this afternoon where friends may call.
