Rosie Lee (Robinson) Newton
Rosie Lee Newton, 71, of Zeigler, passed away at 11 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2006, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. In accordance with Mrs. Newton's wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 29, at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler, with the Rev. Matt Frizzell officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. and until the time of services on Saturday, to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Newton may be made to the Baptist Children's Home and Family Services, 949 Co. Road 1300 N., Carmi, IL 62821. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Rosie was born May 16, 1935, in Waltonville, the daughter of William C. and Rosa Fay (Wells) Robinson. She married Ronald Ray Newton and he survives in Zeigler. Other survivors include a daughter, Paula Chaput of Johnsburg; six sons, Steve Newton of West Frankfort, David Newton of Lake Villa, Doug Newton of Olathe, Kan., Kevin Newton of McHenry, Gary Newton of Crystal Lake, and Tom Newton of Zeigler; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ron Robinson of Diamond, and a sister, Katherine Patton of Mt. Vernon.
