Ethel Mae (Jones) Nichols
Ethel Mae Jones Nichols, 102, of Waltonville, died 6 a.m. March 1, 1997, at her home. She was employed for several years at the Mt. Vernon Glove Factory. Mrs. Nichols was born Feb. 11, 1895, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Monroe and Mary Jane (Randall) Jones. Oct. 20, 1910, in St. Louis, she married George Nichols, who died Dec. 19, 1951. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. David Baker officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hughey Funeral Home. Mrs. Nichols is survived by daughters, Geneva Lisenby and husband George in Woodstock and Mary Ann Deem and husband Eugene of Melbourne, Fla.; a son, Aubrey Nichols of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Velma Harris of Lafayette, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Bakersville Free Will Baptist Church. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America. Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Roy Nichols; one great-grandson, Jeff Scott; and four brothers.
