Accidental Shot Gun Wound Kills Stanley Norris
Prominent Waltonville Farmer Dies Instantly Late Yesterday Afternoon

Stanley W. Norris, a prominent farmer of Blissville township, was instantly killed by the accidental discharge of his own shot-gun while climbing a fence on his farm one-half mile west of Waltonville, at three o'clock Thursday afternoon.

Strange dogs had been killing his sheep, and hearing them bark, he had gone to run them away.

Mr. Norris was born January 31, 1892, on the same farm on which he spent his entire life.

He was the son of Harrison Norris and Mary Wells Norris, pioneer residents of the county.

He was educated in the schools of Waltonville and Carbondale.

He was united in marriage Dec. 8, 1912, with Miss Tillie M. Dycus, and is survived by his widow and two sons, Irvin S. Norris of Dyersburg, Tenn., and John Harrison Norris at home; also by one sister, Mrs. Oran Ragland of Waltonville.

Mr. Norris was a progressive and successful farmer, a member of Jefferson County Farm Bureau and a director of the Waltonville high school board of education. He was prominent in fraternal orders, being a member of the Masonic lodge of Ashley, and the Odd Fellows and Modern Woodman lodges of Waltonville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon in the Methodist church at Waltonville, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ruth Martin, with interment in the Knob Prairie cemetery. Coroner Ben Roeder conducted a brief inquiry into his death this afternoon.
