Diana (Maynor) Harpole Beagle Oakley
Mrs. Diana M. OAKLEY, widow of W. C. Oakley died at 4:50 o'clock this morning at her home, 216 North Seventh street, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 27 days. Funeral services will be conducted at Myers Chapel Friday afternoon by Rev. George P. RUTLEDGE. Mrs. Oakley had lived in Mt. Vernon over 50 years at the family residence on North Seventh street. She was born June 9, 1849 in Barkers Ferry, Tenn. and at an early age accompanied her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Maynor, to Illinois. Her marriages included the following; On June 18, 1864 to Martin Van Buren HARPOLE, who died October 26, 1868; in March 1869 to George BEAGLE, whose death occurred in 1878; in 1882 to William Calvin Oakley, who preceded her in death in 1921. Mrs. Oakley is survived by one son , Ambrose Beagle, Quincy; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Long and Mrs. Mary Johnson, both of Mt. Vernon; one stepson, James Oakley, Danville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ella Harpole of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Etta Morton of Little Rock, Ark.: three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Mrs. Oakley reared a granddaughter, Mrs. Mae Lewis Brown of East St. Louis.
