Lawrence Paul O'Bryant Sr.
Mr. O’Bryant was restaurant manager of Billy Reed Restaurant in Palm Springs, Calif. He was born April 17, 1933, in Mt. Vernon to Robert Allen and Mildred M. “Millie” (Tackett) O’Bryant. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Military graveside services will be conducted by the chaplain and members of American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon. No visitation will be held. Survivors include four sons, Lawrence Paul O’Bryant Jr. of Robinson, Randy O’Bryant of Mt. Vernon, Gary O’Bryant of Robinson, and Robbie O’Bryant of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Tammy Bolinger of Champaign and Angela O’Bryant of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; his mother, Mildred “Millie” Hunt of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Robert L. O’Bryant Sr. of Mt. Vernon; two stepbrothers, David Hunt of Virginia and Bob Hunt of Florida; and three stepsisters, Dorothy Krech and Mary Nelms, both of Alabama, and Marjorie Fredheim of Texas. Mr. O’Bryant served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired as a master sergeant, serving some time in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners in California. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Dale Hunt; one son, Rickie O’Bryant; a stepbrother, Jack Hunt; his grandparents and great-grandparents; and a special friend, Carol Morton.
