Jeanne (Gilbreath) O'Daniell
Jeanne O'Daniell, 74, of Woodlawn, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Woodlawn Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Lipe officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, to the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, and from noon until the time of services on Saturday to the Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was born Feb. 18, 1930, in Rend City, the daughter of Lester and Mabel May (Dugger) Gilbreath. She married Prentis T O'Daniell on June 28, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., who survives. Mrs. O'Daniell retired from Southern Illinois Clinic after working a number of years as a receptionist. Survivors include her husband, Prentis T. O'Daniell of Woodlawn; a son, Ron O'Daniell and wife, Peg, of Woodlawn; a daughter, Cheryl Hall and husband, Bob, of Elkville; four grandchildren, Brent O'Daniell and wife, Stacie, of Nashville, Brett O'Daniell and wife, Megan, of Maryland Heights, Mo., Bryan Hall and wife, Alicia, of Woodlawn, and Tracy Ritter and husband, Aaron, of Austin; four great-grandchildren, Lauren O'Daniell of Nashville, Brendan O'Daniell of Nashville, Blair Hall of Woodlawn, and Ethan Hall of Woodlawn; three sisters, Sylvia Gipson of Benton, Doris Galloway and husband, William, of Benton, and Lula Belle Kirkpatrick of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, including stepmother Mabel Montgomery who raised Jeanne, preceded her in death. Mrs. O'Daniell was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and was currently serving as Sunday school secretary. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and loved needlepoint and quilting. Her family was her world. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Family Life Center Building Fund of Woodlawn Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
