Larry N. Osborn
Larry N. Osborn, 79, of Nason, went to be with the Lord at 3:05 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon. He was born in Nason on Jan. 3, 1929, a son of Jesse and Mary (Lynch) Osborn. He married Earlene Taylor on April 21, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. He was a car dealer, farmer and coal miner at Orient 3 in Waltonville and retired from Crown 3 in Farmersville in 1987. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with Jonathan Schnautz officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Whittington. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Larry is survived by his wife Earlene Osborn of Nason; two sons, Bruce Osborn and wife Claudia of Mt. Vernon and Brian Osborn of Nason; one daughter, Denise Osborn of Opdyke; five grandchildren, Celeste Robin-son and husband Rob of Mt. Vernon; Jessica Patch and husband Tim of Horn Lake, Miss., Jared Osborn and wife Sara of Virden, Shay Osborn of Somerset, Ky., and Brianna Osborn of Somerset, Ky.; six great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Ciara, Bailey, Myles, Olivia and Kaitlyn; five step-great-grandchildren, Josh, Jake, Joel, Justin and Dustin; one step-great-great-grandson, Urijah; and honorary grandson, Alex Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marion Osborn; and one sister, Norma Waldron. He was a member and speaker of Elk Prairie Christian Church until failing health. He was a member of UMCA Local 12 and an Air Force veteran. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elk Prairie Christian Church.
