Loren Osborn, 84, of Bluford, Illinois passed away at 2:57 P.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his home in Bluford, Illinois.

He was born on Thursday, August 28, 1924 in Bluford, Illinois the son of the late W.E. and Lena (Davis) Osborn.

He married Jerri Ward on May 25, 1947 in Jerri's home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Surviving family members include his Wife: Jerri Osborn of Bluford, Illinois; Son: Dr. William "Bill" Osborn, D.M.D. and wife Betsy of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 Grandchildren: Ashley Osborn of San Diego, California, Lacey Osborn of Malibu, California and Blake Osborn of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Sister: Euna Bunn of Arlington, Virginia; Niece: Brenda Bunn of Arlington, Virginia; Nephew: Nelson Bunn of Raleigh, North Carolina.

His parents and one son: Bob Ed Osborn preceded him in death.

FACTS

Loren was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II; following his military service he owned and operated Osborn Grocery Store in Bluford, Illinois for 30 years beginning in 1947 and retiring in 1977.

He also raised cattle and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bluford, the Opdyke Masonic Lodge and the Bluford Ruritan Club.

ARRANGEMENTS:
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend John Stanford, Reverend Dale Davenport and Reverend Mike Thomason will officiate.

INTERMENT:
Salem-Mateer Cemetery in Wayne County, Illinois. The Chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct a Military Flag Presentation at the cemetery.

VISITATION:
will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 3, 2008 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Bluford and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt.
