Hubert C. OUTLAND, 70, Bluford, was dead on arrival 2:25 p.m. Dec. 19, 1990 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.

Mr. OUTLAND was employed with Illinois Central Railroad for 26 years and later was employed in the maintenance department at Bluford Grade School for 10 years until retiring in 1983.

He was born March 27, 1920 in Irvington, a son of Elmer Parke and Cora (Raines) Outland.

On Oct. 8, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, he married Verna McKitrick, who survives.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home with the Rev. Les SINKS officiating. Burial will follow in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. OUTLAND is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Judy) COLE of Thompsonville, Mrs. Keith (Brenda) HULBERT of Mt. Vernon, and Melissa OUTLAND of Bluford; six sisters, Mrs. Richard (Eula) FOSHEE of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Mrs. Omal WHALEN of Galesburg, Mrs. Eleanor Fritz of Rockford, and Mrs. Garold (Evelyn) Shields, Mrs. Orville (Clara) DONOHO and Mrs. Dan (Pauline) WILLIAMS, all of Bluford; three grandchildren, Richard COLE Jr., Leslie COLE and Jason HULBERT; one great granddaughter, Brook Anderson COLE; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Outland was an Army veteran of World War II, having enlisted Oct. 9, 1942, and being discharged Dec. 22, 1945. He was with the 96th Infantry Division Dead Eye Association and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Outland was a member of First Baptist Church in Bluford and of Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Mick OUTLAND; and one infant sister, Norma Jean Outland.
