James Thomas Owens, aged 64 years, passed away Sunday morning at 5:30 o’clock.

He had been in poor health for some time and it is thought his death was due to heart trouble combined with a slight stroke of paralysis.

He was born in this county and was an old soldier. For many years he was in the employ of J. L. Hutchinson, a man who cared for him as he would a brother.

Mr. Owen was found unconscious in his bed room Sunday morning and death relieved him before consciousness returned.

He leaves a wife and several children.

The funeral was preached by Rev. W. A. Browder, Monday morning, and the body was laid away at Hopewell Cemetery.
