Buddy Wade Oxford
Buddy Wade Oxford, 52, of Opydke, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born in King County on Aug. 13, 1956, a son of Buddy B. and Dellas (Stratton) Oxford. He married Linda Sampson in Mt. Vernon on Oct. 12, 1973. He was a truck driver owner/operator. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Garlin Burris officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted by Jefferson Lodge 368 of Opdyke. Interment will follow. There will be no public visitation. Buddy is survived by his parents, Buddy B. and Dellas Oxford of Mt. Vernon; wife, Linda Oxford of Opdyke; daughter, Stephanie Po-ninski and husband Rob of Whittington; grandchildren, Jean and Jerica Mace of Mt. Vernon; brother, Michael Conner and wife Tracy of Woodlawn; four sisters, Rhonda Roberts and husband Glen of Opdyke, Kim Bamard and husband Allen of Mt. Vernon, Teresa Drew and husband Robbie of Bluford and Desiree Oxford of Mt. Vernon; several nieces and nephews and close friend, Jason Edwards of DuQuoin. His grandparents preceded him in death. Buddy was a member of the Southside Missionary Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #31 and Jefferson County Shriners Club. He was also proud that he was an organ donor.
