Birchel Enos Page
Birchel E. Page, 93, 4214 Rose Lane, died at 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Hospital. He was a retired Missionary Baptist minister and a farmer. Mr. Page was born Dec. 9, 1888 in Jefferson County, the son of Alexander and Dona (Barnfield) Page. On Aug. 13, 1910, at Mt. Vernon, he married Ruby Fisher, who preceded him in death Feb. 16, 1977. A member of Second Baptist Church, Mr. Page was a Missionary Baptist minister who pastored 26 different churches in the Southern Illinois area before his retirement. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rudolph Schlag officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Franklin County. Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Herbert E. (Eva) Page, Mrs. Orville (Beatrice) Kent and Mrs. Ruth Lankford, all of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Harriett Mossberger of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Eudora Foster of Bartlesville, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers, four sisters, and one daughter, Myrna Capps.
