Paul Cummings Pasley
Paul C. Pasley, 83, father of Frances leggett of Evansville and Barbara hayes of Newburgh, died at 11:30 a.m. yesterday at Woodlands Convalescent Center Mr. Pasley celebrated 50 years in the harness horse racing busienss at age 80. He drove and won his last race at the Illinois Colt Stake race at the Du Quoin State Fair in Du Quoin, Ill., at the age of 79. When he retired he continued to break and train colts at his breeding farm near Mount Vernon, Ill., until he became ill a year and a half ago. Mr. Pasley's horse, Queen's Missile, set a track record in 1964 at Audubon Raceway, now Riverside Downs. His stable also consisted of other favorites during the 1960 include Castle Tassel, Hy Cheryl, Onzee, Fly Queen, Shorty Guy and Joey Montgomery. Suviving in addition to the son and daughter (wrong - he only had 2 daughters Barbara and Frances) are his wife of 62 years, Cecile; brothers, Kermit and Russell Pasley of Mount Vernon, Ill.; grandchildren, Paula Legget of New York, Maria and Cheryl Leggett and Jann Hickey, all of Evansville, and Lt. Col. Charles Leggett of Tucson, Ariz.; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ill., with burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
