LaRue Pate, 86, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:45 p.m. Dec. 19, 1999, at SunBridge Care Center in Salem.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Pate was born Mar. 24, 1913, in Morgantown, Ky., to Herman and Sara Alice (Morphew) Dennis.

She married Lofton V. Pate on July 23, 1931, in Morgantown, Ky.; he died July 4, 1996.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Revs. Randy Pate, Steven Edwards and Calvin Jean. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, David Pate and wife Kay of Salem and the Rev. Kenneth R. Pate and wife Sharon of Charleston; a daughter Hazel Tolley and husband, the Rev. Elbert Tolley of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchidren; a sister, Irene Dunn of Carmi; a brother, Jesrue Dennis and wife Lorine of Portage, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews survive.

Mrs. Pate was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Mt. Vernon.

She was a loving mother who was devoted to her family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Harry G. Pate; and two daughters, Sible E. Pate and Edith L. Pate.
