Minnie M. JONES, daughter of S. W. and Mary A. Jones, was born Feb. 1, 1866, in Jefferson county, near her late home. Departed this life Sept. 27, 1917, aged 51 years, 7 months and 26 days.

She was married to W. S. PAYNE November 16, 1892; to this union were born 3 sons, 2 of whom died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her untimely death one son, Howard, Jones, and a heart broken husband, one sister and three brothers; father and mother, two sisters and two brothers having preceded her to the great beyond.

She was a member of the First Baptist church, of Mt. Vernon, at the time of her death.

Mrs. W. S. PAYNE died last night at 10 o'clock at the Egyptian hospital, to which institution she had been taken about 10 o'clock yesterday morning to be operated on for locked bowels. She was taken sick Saturday night. Her death comes as a shock to the family and her many friends, very few of whom knew she had been stricken with illness.

The family moved late in the spring to the farm about 4 miles from Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband, one son and a girl they took into the family some time ago, and the following named brothers and sisters: Dr. W. A. JONES, Mountain Grove, Mo.; George and Clark Jones, and Mrs. Ed WALKER, Mt. Vernon.

The funeral will be held Saturday at West Salem church at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev. Jesse WELLS, of this city.
